According to the latest benchmark tests, Sprint's upcoming 3D phone can beat everything else on the market.

The Evo 3D comes with a Qualcomm MDP MSM8660 chip, which uses the latest in dual-core processor technology. The chip can clock up to 1.5 GHz, making it as fast as any other mobile device available now.
We heard Sprint tout the features of the Evo 3D at CTIA. The company wanted to be clear that users realized it wasn't just a great 3D phone, it was a great phone. Period.
Qualcomm has made great strides in advancing mobile processing technology this year. In addition to introducing dual-core chipsets, the company says it is optimizing the tech to make mobile gaming so powerful, it will be possible to have the power of a PS3 game on a smartphone by the end of the year.
The Evo 3D is sitting on top for now, but seeing how quickly the technology is growing, don't expect that to last long.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last month, you know that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play prototype previews first appeared in a couple of Chinese websites. But here's a more Western-type preview of the device, courtesy of Engadget.

There’s not much news as we knew almost everything about the device. The earlier Chinese previews were pretty thorough. The Xperia Play, or the PlayStation phone
as it is commonly dubbed, rocks the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on a muscular 1Ghz Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset. And let’s not forget the gorgeous 4” LCD screen relying on a Bravia engine for various imaging and video enhancements.

Few user interface improvements over the stock Android experience have been added here and there. For example, just like on the Xperia Arc, the Xperia Play let’s you pinch anywhere on the homescreen, which will group all the widgets in one screen, clicking on a widgets would take you to its homescreen.Also, when tested, the prototype’s 5MP snapper at the back of the device only recorded WVGA videos, which corroborates with the earlier previews. We really hope that Sony Ericsson will allow for 720p recording in the final product.

The reviewer tried a couple of unofficially emulated games from the original PlayStation and GameBoy Advance and reportedly everything worked fine - from the performance down to the assigning of the extended hardware gaming controls (except for the touchpads). We bet the experience with the original PSP emulator will be superior.

The reviewer then summoned the expertise of an experienced gamer and he reports that the XPERIA Play is not balanced as well as the PSP Go with the top being heavier than the lower part. Also he found the shoulder buttons being a wee bit thinner than he'd like (the PSP Go is substantially thicker than the XPERIA Play).

The N97 might be one of the most exciting devices Nokia has launched in a long time and it seems like Nokia is hell-bent on taking on HTC, Apple, Sony Ericsson et al.
The Nokia N97 doesn't look anything like earlier leaks have suggested and it's easily the most exciting device Nokia has announced this year.
The design of the N97 might bring your thoughts to the HTC TyTN II as it shares the same slide out keyboard and tiltable display, but the similarities end there. The fascia doesn't look that different from the iPhone, albeit in white and having three buttons instead of a single one.

The specifications are truly awe inspiring,
starting off with a 3.5in touch screen with 640x360 (16:9) resolution and haptic feedback, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 5Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, HSDPA, 32GB of built in flash memory, a microSD card slot, FM-radio, FM-transmitter (for sending music from the phone to a radio tuner) and a 3.5mm headphone jack which doubles up as TV-out socket.
The keyboard doesn't look like the best we've seen, but considering that the N97 measures 117.2x55.3x15.9mm (HxWxD) it's not a bad feat incorporating a keyboard, especially when you consider that the iPhone 3G measures 115.5x62.1x12.3mm (HxWxD) which actually makes the N97 narrower, if somewhat taller and thicker. The N97 weighs 150g which is a bit on the heavy side, although the iPhone 3G comes in at 133g, so again, not a huge difference.
Nokia claims the battery is good for 1.5 days of music playback. The N97 uses the S60 5th edition OS which is the same as the Nokia 5800, but with some N-series tweaks which adds extra functionality. The N97 also supports various on-screen keyboards and handwriting recognition. It also supports Nokia maps and the new N-Gage platform.
The bad news? Well, Nokia is going to charge €550 plus VAT for the N97 and it won't be out until sometime in the first half of next year, so it seems like Nokia still have some work to do.
Despite this, it looks like Nokia has an amazing handset with the N97 if it's as good as it looks on paper.

LG KM900 Arena

LG’s latest touchscreen handset that’s been making waves with their new S-Class User Interface since February of 2009 made its way to our labs before hitting the stores. Yours truly got a crack at the prototype and instead of waiting for a review, when it launches perhaps sometime in June (not confirmed yet), I thought I’d give you a quick preview of the handset. Please understand that this is only a prototype and while I did have a few issues with the handset, it’s very possible that the actual review piece may be perfect. With that in mind I’ll update the preview with a Review when I do get a proper handset so you’ll have to be a little patient guys. Until then here’s what I can tell you about the Arena and its features.

Form Factor
The design is quite typical for a touchscreen handset. Unlike the iPhone its front is designed to be a full touchscreen with the Call Take and end keys and a shortcut option all being touch sensitive. This is quite like the HTC HD’s functionality; the difference is that these keys light up.
The 3.0-inch touchscreen display sports a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16 million colors. It’s a light handset at just 105g with a slim form so naturally it becomes very easy to carry around.

On one side is an LG proprietary USB slot that’s universal for the charger and USB and on the other side are a set of Zoom/volume keys and a camera key below them. A 3.5mm handsfree socket is located at the top beside the power key that can also be used to lock the display, like in the iPhone. What I thought the handset could have used is a hot swap slot for the memory card but with 8GB of internal space, that was hardly necessary. However, under the rear panel, a microSD card slot does exist, and you won’t have to remove the battery to remove it. The Arena also has a light sensor for the display that’s also like the iPhone's.

So it’s not an iPhone with a calm sophisticated look, it’s not an HTC HD with a large display, it’s not a funky Nokia 5800, nor a Pixon with its hefty camera, but the Arena, at least in the looks department, does have a unique blend of elegance, simplicity and a dash of femininity. Hopefully if it’s launched in another color I might see the latter part a little differently. But just so you know, it’s not a bad thing either way.

Features and Performance
I’m not going to go into detail about the actual performance of functionality of the handset’s features. Like I said, the model I received was a prototype tester, so any issues I faced I'm attributing to that factor.

Interface
The S-Class interface has a lot of good and bad points. The desktop is similar to the multiple desktops with widgets that the LG Cookie has. This version is a little more visually attractive and instead of two, you now have four separate desktops that cater to very specific needs. While I did like the smooth flow of the UI when flicking to switch desktops, I realized that I’d rather just have one with multiple widgets for various purposes, naturally the Samsung UI came to mind. Each desktop only offers a very specific set of features that you can use. You can customize the layout a bit but not too much. On the whole though, I found the desktops quite intuitive and colorful. Video will play in a small preview screen, but switch to landscape and it goes to full screen. The same goes for images. On the other hand music files can be played from the same Favorite’s (media) screen but you won’t be able to adjust any settings, which is rather odd.

The inside menu system is neatly categorized into four divisions – Communication, Multimedia, Utilities and Settings. Each category has more options than just the four per slot that you see initially. To access those you’ll have to flick to the side or simply use the accelerometer by changing the viewing orientation by shifting to landscape. The problem is the entire screen is then taken up completely with a bunch of colorful icons that have no headings so you’ll just have to wing it and go with the icon design.

The accelerometer is extremely smooth and thankfully not too eager to please. By that I mean it’s not going to switch orientation when the handset is tilted a bit. Of course I did wish that the entire interface would change orientation and not just particular screens so I wouldn’t have to keep switching from landscape to portrait and back again. I wasn’t too fond of the keypad layout. The alphanumeric keypad is large, but it took a lot of getting used to. Stubby fingers like mine kept hitting all the surrounding feature keys most of the time. The QWERTY keypad is large and was a lot easier to use. Once again, when it came to editing text, just like the iPhone, the Arena also has a small preview pop up to place the cursor. This was not as easy to use as the iPhone's and was not very receptive to placement.

The phone also facilitates easy mobile blogging. For scrolling through images, flick control may have been one thing, but the Pixon takers it to a whole new level with what I’m calling ‘tilt-to-scroll’. It also has video recording capability and TV output for both PAL and NTSC systems.

The Pixon is also equipped with –
* a 3.2-inch WQVGA (240 x 400 pixels) touch screen featuring Samsung’s TouchWiz UI with auto screen rotation
* Samsung widgets on the desktop

* 8MP AF camera with LED flash
* Bluetooth with A2DP and USB 2.0 (micro)

Samsung Pixon is also ideal for enthusiastic gamers as it comes pre-embedded with a host of popular games like Brain Challenge, Diamond Twister and Millionaire-3. Apart from these, users can also enjoy the motion-sensor based game - Tumbling Dice.

The SAMSUNG Pixon is priced at US$550 which is almost US$400 less than the INNOV8. That in mind I’m presuming that there’ll be no 16GB memory card included with this one.

It will be showcased at Mobile World Congress 2009 for the first time.

Designed to symbolize a flat and well rounded shiny pebble, Blue Earth is the first solar powered full-touch screen phone. By charging with the solar panel located on the back of the phone, users can generate enough electronic power to call anytime anywhere.

Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles, helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process. Since the introduction of the Apple iPhone on January the 9th, the world has gone touch pad crazy, touch pad technology is the way of the future and many companies have heard the call and made their own touch pad phones in direct competition with the iPhone.
This is a top five list of iPhone Competitors, some of the phones are the real deal, some are just concepts at the moment, all are cool.

1 - HTC Touch

The HTC Touch uses TouchFLO touchscreen technology that was developed by HTC. It runs Windows Mobile 6 and a rotating “cube” shows you icons for your contacts, music, and more. Unfortunately there’s no Wi-Fi which is one of the down-sides to this phone, but it is fairly affordable at $250 from Sprint after instant savings and a mail-in rebate.

2 - LG Voyager

The LG Voyager is priced at about $299.99 from Verizon Wireless with a 2-year contract. Of course it’s touchscreen like the iPhone but also includes a physical keyboard that pops-out. Overall it does look pretty sleek and includes Ev-DO support, but doesn’t have Wi-Fi.

3 - Samsung Instinct

Samsung’s Instinct hasn’t reached the stores yet, but from the looks if it, it’ll be a great competitor to the iPhone. Gizmodo says that it may be the best stab at the iPhone yet! As far as size goes, in dimension and weight, it’s about the same as the iPhone. Even with battery life, it’s right up there with with 5.75 hours of talk-time. Sprint will be the one to carry this one for an estimated $200-$250.

4 - Garmin Nuvifone

Sometime this year in the 3rd quarter we’ll be seeing the Garmin Nuvifone hit the market. The phone will be big on GPS and helping you navigate, and will feature an on-screen keyboard like the iPhone. Just a few days ago, rumor started floating around that it will be sold to AT&T subscribers for a whopping $500! While it may be pricey, that GPS could be worth it!

5 - Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

Yet another phone that is expected later this year is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. It’ll have a full QWERTY keyboard, and will run on the Windows Mobile 6 operating system. What will be unique with this phone is a “paneled” interface and an “optical” joystick for easy web scrolling. The price is expected to be over $400, so it’ll definitely be on the higher-end of the pricing spectrum.

LG announced that they will be naming their 8-megapixel full-touchscreen-operated cameraphone after the famous French artist Renoir. The new name of the LG KC910 doesn't change anything in the specs sheet and is only meant to add a certain artistic flavor to the otherwise high-end feature package.

Equipped with an 8 megapixel auto focus camera, the LG KC910 Renoir is the first feature phone of the company to sport Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition it extends the functionality of the Viewty with GPS, which allows geo-tagging of the photos.

The sweet VGA videos at 30 fps and slow motion 120 fps QVGA videos are also there. A xenon flash is also on board to facilitate photography in low-light conditions. The display of the new LG Renoir will be a 3" 262K color one with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels.

Connectivity is also duly covered in the LG KC910 Renoir, which has support for all the four GSM bands. 3G with HSDPA is also available and so are Bluetooth and USB. The final extras of the KC910 include microSD card slot, TV-out support, Xvid and DivX video playback and Dolby sound for the music.

HTC has recently announced a touch screen plus a slide out QWERTY keypad, with navigating tricky Windows Mobile menus and tapping out e-mails. It is just like the Diamond.

Touch pro and diamonds are just the latest in Taiwan. Both are identical to their respective specs. Both phones can access speedy HSDPA data networks, do Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and they each pack in Opera HTML Web browsers (if phone is turned sideways it switches pages to landscape view. Also GPS and 3.2MP digital cameras. For video conferencing the Touch Pro adds a front-facing VGA camera.) The Touch Pro has 512MB of internal memory, compared to 4GB of diamond. Both handsets come with slots for micro SD memory expansion.
Both the phones have a screen of 2.8 inch, VGA touch-enabled display with HTC’s snazzy TouchFlo UI, an animated 3D interface allowing you to access your contact, event, music, pictures, phone widget, and calling features with swipes of your finger tips.
Both Diamond and Touch Pro run the professional edition of Windows Mobile 6.1 a powerful and highly configurable mobile OS.
The Touch Pro’s slide-out, five-row QWERTY keypad is handy while tapping out messages or editing mobile Office documents.
The Touch Pro’s slide out QWERTY keypad is 4 by 2 by 0.7 inch thick. It is bulky and it weighs 5.8 ounces.
Though the Touch Pro is worthy competitor to Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Xperia X1, with Window Mobile 6.1, a handset with slide out keypad, with its innovative, panel-based touch interface.
Expected price for Touch Pro is about $900.
HTC promises that North American version of the Touch Pro will come by year end. And Europe, Asia and the Middle East will get the phone by late summer.

The world of wireless came together in San Francisco last week for CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2007 show. The three-day conference witnessed a slew of launches and announcements from global cell phone manufacturers.

Even as iPhone's international rollout draws close, companies like LG, Motorola and Samsung are drawing up strategies to protect their turf. CTIA showcased several of these flashy new phones. The good thing, however, is that not all of these phones are mere iPhone clones, but smarter phones in their own right, if one were to look at features, functionalities and applications.

i-mate Ultimate 9502

The flagship handset in i-mate's line-up of Windows Mobile devices, i-mate Ultimate 9502 is pitched directly against high-end smartphones such as the Nokia E90.
Ultimate 9502 has a large 2.8" 640 x 480 pixel (VGA resolution) touchscreen. Underneath, this is a quad-band GSM device with GPRS and EDGE, tri-band UMTS (3G) with HSDPA high-speed data plus WiFi.
Also packed is a 3 megapixel digital camera with autofocus and flash, and i-mate Ultimate 9502 also has microSD expandable memory and Bluetooth.
A new feature with Ultimate 9502 is the inclusion of GPS (global positioning system). The Pocket PC offers navigation and several location-based services. Weighing 200 grams, iMate Ultimate 9502 support AAC, AAC+, MP3, Midi, AMR, ASF and WMA audio formats as well as H.263, H.264, MPEG4 and WMV video formats.
Mobile versions of PowerPoint, Word and Excel are included, plus Windows Media Player.

LG Rumor

The phone's display is a 2.0" 262k color TFT, 176x220 pixel resolution screen with 3D graphics support for gaming. Measuring 4.3 x 2 x 0.7 inches and weighing 116 gm the phone comes with a built-in hidden QWERTY keyboard for easy messaging.
In addition to its QWERTY keyboard, the LG Rumor sports a 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder with a 2x digital zoom, Bluetooth and an MP3 player. LG Rumor also provides full-feature GPS navigation including voice and on screen turn-by-turn driving directions and more than 10 million business listings. A microSD memory slot with support for 4GB cards has also been incorporated.
LG Rumor provides access to instant messaging services including AIM, MSN and Yahoo! as well as several popular social networking communities, including Facebook and Xanga.

LG Voyager

This one's hottest from LG's Q4 line-up. LG Voyager has a large external touch-screen and opens laterally to reveal a full QWERTY keypad.
The clamshell cell phone supports high-speed EV-DO 3G network. Voyager includes an HTML Web browser, V CAST music and video and V CAST Mobile TV. V CAST is a mobile phone-based systems on which advanced games, including those with 3D graphics can be played. The phone can play .MP3, .WMA, and unprotected .AAC music files.
LG Voyager packs a 2.0 megapixel camera with video capture, there is a removable microSD memory slot that can hold up to 8GB of flash memory.
LG Voyager will hit the stores by the end of November 2007.

Motorola Moto U9
Motorola launched its new music phone, called the Moto U9. Featuring a built-in speaker, dedicated music key with integrated Bluetooth wireless technology, the phone is an ideal device for music lovers.
Moto U9 comes with optional 8GB microSD memory card, and has the capacity to store 1000 songs. It also features an MP3 music player with dedicated touch sensor buttons, Windows Media Player6 for easy to download and sync the user's music.
The Moto U9 also sports 1.4" x 128 x 160 pixel touch-sensitive OLED display, 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom, CrystalTalk technology that enables crystal clear voice quality in noisy environments, 25 MB internal memory and USB 2.07 to help deliver faster downloads from PC to phones.
Housed in a metallic gloss finish, the phone is designed in small, curvaceous and seamless form. The Motorola U9 delivers maximum talktime of seven hours, with up to 14 days standby time.

Motorola RIZR Z6tv

Motorola's two-year run of success from the trend-setting Razr phone started crumbling about a year ago when sales eased off. Analysts expect the company to also benefit from other new phones such as the Rokr Z6m and Z6tv and the Moto U9.
Motorola RIZR Z6tv is a slider phone equipped with VCAST Mobile TV, VCAST Music and Video. The RIZR Z6tv provides entertainment lovers 24-hour access to broadcast-quality full-length TV shows through VCAST Mobile TV.
RIZR Z6tv is also equipped with Bluetooth stereo headset support for music, creating a wireless mobile music experience.
Additional features include a memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth, physical key lock switch, a QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera with video capture and playback, and EVDO data.

Nokia N81

The Nokia N81, with a price around $479, has built-in maps and satellite navigation for getting directions, a high-resolution camera, instant messaging, and a 10 GB memory card that store up to 7,500 songs in compressed format.
The N810 resembles Apple's recently introduced iPod Touch Internet multimedia device, which also goes without phone features and costs $299. Nokia's new device was unveiled at a news conference ahead of the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.
Among the key differences, users can choose a touch screen, writing stylus or pop-up keyboard that hides behind its screen that is more than four inches across -- larger than Apple devices.

Samsung SCH-i760

The upgraded version of Samsung i730, Samsung i760, comes with both a traditional phone keypad and full QWERTY keyboard.
The dual keypad phone runs on Windows Mobile Professional version 6 and comes pre-loaded with Office apps like Internet Explorer Mobile and Windows Media Player 10 to play MP3 music and watch videos. The i760 can make calls and play music over both 2.5mm and wired Bluetooth headsets.
i760 is 0.8 inch in thickness with a 2.8-inch, 320 by 240 color screen.
The phone has a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera with 1280 x 960 resolution. SCH-i760 also supports wi-fi network, this means users can make free VOIP calls from any WiFi hotspot.

Samsung BlackJack II

For a tractor maker to be this ambitious was straight out of Boys Own and even though Lamborghini didn't race, its sports cars were racy enough forgive them this lacuna.

LP640 Murcielago, LP stood for 'longitudinale posteriore' or rear-engined in a north-south placement of the glorious V12 motor with 640 being its power output. Thats what really constituted the genuine Lamborghini sportscar in its history and that had to be the Countach, not the Miura. The genes of the Countach run strong in the latest Murcielago.

A 'literal' spin in a supercar is what's the LP640 for you. A mad barking car that is docile when you have to in everyday driving on the street but direct and powerful if you like your motoring that way when you get a decent stretch of tarmac to plonk the right foot down. Get on to the ï¬‚ip side and it is like dancing on a razor's edge: one wrong move will have the car chew you and spit you off if you are lucky otherwise it will slice you in two without you even getting to cry out to the lord.

So what have the Lamborghini engineers done to make the LP640 the most audacious car ever from Sant' Agata? Well if you take in the sleek exterior first you will not notice a purer form than this Murcielago. Of course there is function which has decided the overall form so while

there are new design bumpers front and rear, it is the sides which throw up an interesting mix: the expanse behind the air intake on the right hand side is practically closed while that on the left has a vast gaping aperture for the cooling charge to hit the oil radiator. It may not be dramatic enough like the Diablo but then that is only measuring the extent of how far wild you can go with a Lamborghini. And the Murcielago is both, pretty and wild, rolled into one fine orgasmic whole.

And as always there are the permanent four wheel drive with the torque split normally set at 30:70 front to rear but with the ability to switch seamlessly after the electronics brains trust residing in the car takes in factors such as dynamic oscillation, weight transfer and also the relative friction factor in optimum synchronisation with the viscous clutch. In fact the Lamborghini boffins informs that if it were ever needed, in extreme cases one could find 100 per cent of the ample 660Nm of torque being fed to just one axle and this could even be the one at the front!

The magnificent naturally aspirated 60-degree V12 has been upped in capacity to 6.5 litres and this has helped bump up the power from 580bhp to 640bhp at 8000rpm. Torque is a battleship monstering 660Nm at 6000 rpm and you know that more is never enough in this league.

Imagine the performance capability of the LP640: it does zero to 100km/h in 3.4 secondsat in first gear! Yes this 1665kg car is fast (330km/h top speed), nimble where it has to be, taut when you allow it to be so and perfectly tractable when you are on the babe hunt run cruising down .

Hustling the Murcielago is an education at the highest levels. Praise the e-gear paddle shift system, you will like to play with the mechanical feel and direct engagement of the fantastic six-speed manual transmission.
